Immediate Goal:
Looking for players who just want to jam 12-bar blues on a casual, regular basis. Experienced players who can play around in a groove without needing a structured format... just heat up the stew and let it cook.
Start off easy and see where it goes... maybe get serious if the right talent shows up. Set-up a regular jam night, maybe at a legion or somewhere else... I don't know, gimme your ideas.
Extended Goal:
Kingston needs a place where musicians can gather and jam any time they want. It should be in a public place (like a restaurant or a bar) so that the public can enjoy the music being created. An area near the stage could be reserved exclusively to identify musicians interested in playing. Musicians could meet new players here and discuss all aspects of their art.
Everyone with a level of talent that is at least consistent with the average talent level on stage would be welcome to jam. Social dynamics would weed out incompetent or annoying players. The length of time each musician would be welcome to play would be determined by the number of other players waiting to get on stage. Jams would be spontaneous inspirations growing from shared grooves and feels.
The club would provide the amplification equipment and drums. In return they would benefit from the additional food and beverage revenues the music space would generate. Ideally jams would run from noon to midnight, based on the availability of talent. Soloists could fill in the holes. Different days of the week could be designated for rock, blues, country, etc. To try it out, the jam might only run on certain days of the week.
