ABOUT

Currently we consist of 2 members that are all multi instrumentalists. We write originals and do very simple covers. We are the two core members who originally started as a duet and are looking for individuals to join us.

The focus is: Simple covers to sight read or warm up as crowd pleasers while composing new music and having fun tastefully.

Communicating in the group is done democratically, respectfully and reciprocally with some quirky humor... Maybe a few sarcastic comments....or friendly banter back and forth of course(with respectful boundaries)!

We all bring to the group different experience that compliment eachother. What might be one person's weaker area is another's strength. We all share a willingness to learn and a passion for musical creativity. We lift eachother up to see eachother for our strengths and encourage eachothers growth despite barriers.

We don't need you to be a virtuoso at your instrument or read music perfectly....

However!

We do need:

- being the time keeper of group on the drums with bass
- willingness to learn
- creativity
- effective, respectful, reciprocal communication
- collaboration
- dedication
- a sense of humor
- democratic perspective
- taking on a role in the group for example: helping out with various organization, planning, set ups as well communicating if you are unable to do so

Please note:

- A pre-requisite for the group is meeting for coffee to talk about musical background and listening preferences that inspire you.
- Please share 3 songs that are simple covers you would consider doing with a group. These songs should be simple enough that they would not involve spending much time on. Please share the title name and the artist.
- You are welcome to share any demos, rough or professional recordings.

Who has been an inspiration and huge supporter for the music of The Dead Dogwoods to continue. With a heart of gold she assists regularly in helping with gear, attending local shows for inspiring The Dead Dogwoods and supporting one of our members that has health coniditions during periods of flare ups. Look for a song coming soon with the Title "Kathleen". Kathleen directly inspired and helped keep the positivity in this classic blues song.
