ABOUT

Hey music lovers. I'm Raymond, drummer/percussionist & team player. I absolutely live to groove all spectrums of sound. Funk, jazz, rock, blues, Afro Cuban, country or trip hop etc.... Cultivating organic originals or classics with interesting arrangements. To me, the music and groove comes first and foremost. I consider myself a musician first and a cobbler of rhythms second.

Why crank it to Eleven! Dynamics are paramount. Using mallets, brushes or various shakers can add so much when we let the music breath. Mind you, if the song calls for the driving force of a four on the floor bass drum, followed by a smash & crash of the gong, then lets do it! I have very musical ear so I listen, play what the music calls for and have fun.

The creative process. We were given a gift. Our imagination we as musicians have been blessed with, should never be taken for granted. Lets use it wisely, share it and see what happens. Spur of the moment mistakes that turn into great ideas are my favourites. You never know how or when that next great idea will present itself. Quick words of wisdom passed down to me. If you make a mistake, make it a big one. There's no sense in doing something half wrong.

Labour of Love. Managing expectations for any project is key. A solid game plan and outline of what's expected is crucial. When we are all on the same page, anything is possible. Doing the musical homework is essential. It's my belief that rehearsals are for blending the nuts & bolts, not the time to learn individual parts. Showing up prior to rehearsals and staying later is part of my musical appetite too.

Side note: I have a valid passport, wheels, available to get up, go and work the Tri state, Quebec or Ontario in a flash. I've include some studio recordings along with some live tracks. Some cheezy, some raw and some just simple grooves.

So if your looking for a player who can bring that little extra to your sound or play what's written and stay on the path, I just might be what your looking for.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Raymond.

EQUIPMENT

I wont list off a pile of gear but the best $400 I've spent is the Zoom H4N portable recording device. I've recorded rehersals, students and shows. The ability to listen back helps enormously. Such a great tool and I highly recommend it.
