ABOUT

Hi! I'm a Hamilton-based singer/songwriter and guitarist looking to start up a jammy, groove-based psychedelic band that incorporates sounds from around the globe.

My influences are eclectic. I grew up on grunge and classic rock staples but quickly branched out. Some bands and artists that are big in my books include the Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, Wilco, War on Drugs, and Radiohead. I have a soft spot for classic funk, soul, and R&B, and I've also been immersed in afrobeat and North African "desert blues"(Tinariwen, Bombino, Ali Farka Toure, etc.). As a part of my cultural heritage, South Asian folk and Indian classical music are also a big part of my musical DNA.

The music I'm looking to create seeks to integrate my kalidescopic tendencies into a vibey, hypnotic whole. Speed and technical skills aren't as important to me as the ability to listen, lock into grooves, and improvise. I'm have solid material to work with, and I'm looking for musicians on similar wavelengths to bring them to life.

In particular, I'm looking for a drummer who knows how to keep it funky, and a bass player who can get hips moving. Other than that, I'm open to possibilities. Multi-instrumentalists, percussionists, tabla/sitar/sarod/sarangi/saz players/synth wizards, drop me a line. Let there be songs to fill the air!
