Influences
Ask me what my influences are and, on any given day, I'll have a new answer. The Beatles are the big bang of my musical universe, though. They influenced so many artists for decades to come. I guess I'm more of a McCartney fan. For example, Macca's influence on Neil Finn's writing is plain to see/hear. Strong, hooky melodies and kitchen sink dramas about everyday folk are Neil Finn hallmarks, just like Macca. Neil also has an amazing, under appreciated career trajectory. I have much respect for him.
However, it doesn't end there... In my early teens, (77-80) New Wave was all the rage. So, XTC, Talking Heads, Blondie, Mink DeVille, B-52s, Rough Trade, The Stranglers, Jam, Clash, Police, Pretenders, Squeeze, Lene Lovich, Joe Jackson, Split Enz, Elvis Costello AND Nick Lowe are all sacred to my heart.
