ABOUT

Hey there, I am a seasoned drummer with a lot of experience currently playing with a few bands. I began teaching drums at the age of 19. Moved to Toronto where I spent about 4 years studying Jazz drumming under Jim Blackley, one of the best drum teachers available at the time in Canada, while simultaneously studying Jazz piano with Brian Rudolph to develop a solid understanding of harmony structure. My previous drum teacher was Graeme Kirkland. My first love is rock music. I also have experience playing in multiple original bands over the years whose styles have ranged from Acoustic to Electronic to Punk and Metal and more. I play professional level gear and I have a professional approach to how my drums sound. I tune the drums in my kits to actual notes. They sound good on their own and make sense hearing them blend together. For example right now my toms are tuned to B G C and F. I'm looking to find multiple new opportunities to get out and play locally. I'm open to all styles. When I play Jazz or acoustic it can be as light as brushes and when I play Rock and Metal I usually break about 1 stick per set. One of my last gigs before the pandemic was double duty where I had to perform 27 songs between 2 bands with a 15 minute break in between. My last studio recording experience was at Noble Street Studios in Toronto. I'm comfortable playing live with a click and I'm *usually* the hardest working member in most band settings. I don't have energy for ego, wannabe celebrities, or time wasters of any kind. It's all about ears, humility, and musical maturity at this point. I can learn your songs before jamming and in the past I have prepared for auditions and gigs by going through the music sometimes 100 times or more on my own. How hard does your drummer work? Some local venues that I have performed at over the last few years include the Red Dog, Gordon Best, and the Peterborough Memorial Centre. When I practice I think, and when I perform I react.
