ABOUT

I compose music but also need to earn a living so I am looking for the 2nd half of a duo, tribute or recording act for paid work on weekdays, weekends and/or evenings doing road work, theatres and festivals.

I am a professional keyboardist and singer looking forward to meeting you.

About Me:
I am a multidisciplinary freelance artist, designer, performer and musician with years of experience connecting people to places by uplifting and elevating private and public spaces through music, comedy and art. I took a 2 year music program at Vancouver Island University where I played a lot of hacky sack and learned vocal choir, ear training and theory.

Influences

My Father was a radio DJ and we had buckets of 1950s and 60s 45 records of popular music at the time. Neil Sedaka and Buddy Holly come to mind. My parent's record collection had The Beatles, Carpenter's and ABBA that I listened to incessantly. Music I chose for my own collections that heavily influenced in my school age years was the early electronic and alternative sounds at that time like The Clash, B-52's, XTC, The Cars and Gary Numan, all the while playing in high school rock bands. This evolved into a love for Industrial, rock and roll and huge harmonies (does anyone remember Asia?)

In a nutshell: David Bowie, Deep Purple and ABBA are my biggest influences.

EQUIPMENT

Of course, as a keyboardist, I loved all popular keyboard players from Wendy Carlos to John Lord so I've always enjoyed a rig that can cover a wide variety of sounds. My first instrument was a Korg MS-10 which I loved, followed by a Roland Jupiter-4 with an amazing owner's manual that actually taught me about synthesis. I love programming sounds and can copy them fairly well. I went through a gamut of boards over the years that is ever changing.

I always have an 88 note stage piano on the bottom (this usually covers all classic keyboard sounds) and a top keyboard for the synth and organ sounds. I have a small powered Yamaha Mixer and speakers, an 8 par DMX light system, Interface and Computer running VSTs.
