ABOUT

My name is John Nevin, and I have been playing the piano since I was 7 yrs. old. I was born in Brazil and lived there until I was 12 years old. To this day, I have a passion for Brazilian music. At the age of 12 years old I moved to England, lived there until I was 16 yrs old and then moved to Stratford, Ontario. Since music was in my blood, it was natural for me to go to University where I received my Honours Degree in the faculty of Music from the University of Toronto as a Classical pianist. Over the years of playing Classical music I ventured into learning various other styles of music such as Jazz, Blues, Boogie, Pop, and Showtunes. I am the piano player for the Royal City Big Band from Guelph Ontario-an 18 musician band that plays vibrant, energizing, uplifting 40's, 60's and swing dance music, and I also play the piano for the Windjammers Concert Band {38 musicians}. I have performed solo and/or with big bands at many charity events such as Children's Foundation, United Way, Kidney Foundation and other events such as the yearly Guelph fireworks, swing dance, seniors/retirement homes, weddings, Grand River Hospital luncheon event {Kitchener, Ontario} and corporate events. Not only do I play Classical music but I also play Jazz, Pop, Showtunes, Blues, and Boogie which I thoroughly enjoy.

My first CD-John Nevin Musical Adventures CD came out in November 2014, and it's a musical solo piano arrangement of Jazz, Pop, Showtunes, Boogie, and Classical.
We recently moved to Abbotsford, BC this year and I look forward connecting with a new network of talented musicians either playing solo, in a big band or in a combo.
