ABOUT

Looking mostly to have fun playing music with others and possibly doing some studio projects such as covers for YouTube and writing and producing some originals. Some gigging would be okay (up to once per month). I'm also looking to keep the stage volume for rehearsals at reasonable levels - i.e. 80 dB or less (trying to limit permanent hearing damage as much as possible).

I am not looking to do covers that must always be played 100% like the original recordings with no nuance - i.e. note for note lead lines and all of the exact same chord voicings, etc. That's okay, however, I am looking to do something fresh and would prefer to work out versions of covers that are built around the voices of whoever is singing them - be that the original key or one that is more appropriate. I've been in too many situations where the singers are looked at something like a "juke box" - expected to sing anything in any key and style. I've also seen it where the singers are added as the last pieces of a band with already chosen setlists and keys - seemingly with no consideration made for their voice types or ranges. I would like to flip this dynamic and build a group around the singers since I think that's the best way to operate. I have no issues with drop tuning my guitars and changing the keys of songs. In many cases, I have seen a lot of the big bands from the 70s, 80s and 90s doing this as well. They often play their songs lowered a half step or two at their live performances now. I am flexible and willing to negotiate with those who wish to collaborate.

I have rehearsal/studio recording space in the Abbotsford/Mission area as well as online jamming capabilities.

Let me know if this is something of interest.
