Experienced and dependable bass player looking to join the right band. I’ve been playing bass for many years and love being the foundation that locks in with the drummer and drives the groove. My style focuses on solid timing, tasteful lines, and supporting the song first.
I’m comfortable in several genres including rock, classic rock, country, blues, and roots music. I enjoy both rehearsing and performing, and I’m the type of musician who comes prepared, knows the material, and values good chemistry within a band.
Beyond bass, I bring a number of other musical skills. I’m also a songwriter and composer with original material released under my artist name WP Nykolyn, and I run WPN Music Group for my music projects. I sing backing vocals, play banjo and guitar, and have some experience with recording, arranging, and music production.
Music for me is about connection, groove, and making something meaningful with other musicians. I’m looking for a band that values tight musicianship, creativity, and a positive atmosphere.

Influences
My musical influences developed across several eras and styles.
My earliest influences in the 70s included classic rock and country artists such as Led Zeppelin, KISS, Deep Purple, Elton John, The Who, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, and Willie Nelson. That era shaped my love for strong songwriting and powerful rhythm sections.
In the 80s I was drawn to alternative and atmospheric rock, particularly R.E.M. and The Cure.
Later in the 80s I also developed a strong appreciation for acoustic and folk-based songwriting through artists like Bob Dylan, Cat Stevens, Gordon Lightfoot, and Grateful Dead.
By the 90s my influences expanded further to bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rush, and Pearl Jam, which deepened my appreciation for groove and strong musicianship.
I also dove deeply into bluegrass and roots music, which led me to play instruments like banjo, mandolin, and dobro. While bass remains my primary instrument in a band setting, bluegrass and blues continue to influence how I think about rhythm, timing, and musical feel.
