The music of the primitives has been described as the tragically hip meets the rolling stones. The primitives' response: "we're too tragic to be the stones." For the past 12 years the band has holed up in a grotto on toronto's waterfront where their passion is writing songs that chronicle relationships and society. Their first CD, released in 2005, offers 10 tunes of bluesy rock with a groove as solid as the Canadian shield. Titles like evil, storm and retribution are a reflection of the emotional themes they explore. Live, their stage show is passionate, frenzied and irreverent; you never know what will happen. Primitives are, after all, creatures of rock and roll.
