After getting a music degree, music wasn't fun. So now I'm doing it my way, and I want to rock. Basically untrained singer, who grew up in a musical home, looking to jam, maybe be a singer in a pinch for your grunge/rock band. Work on my real rock voice is just beginning, but I have some unique gifts that give me a leg up, so I'm hoping to be a quick study. Played piano since I was 5, taught myself some violin at 13. Learned some fundamentals singing in a bunch of choirs (and growing up in church). Now I'm ready to shed all that and rock out. Let's rip up the stage again like it's 1997! Would gladly be a background singer too, great with harmonies and used to singing alto - which is always harmony. My range is quite big - C3 easily to A5 faily comfortably.

Currently I'm pretty solid covering Fiona Apple, Brandi Carlile and Sheryl Crow, to give you an idea of where my voice is at and what I like. I've got some growls down, working at my vocal fry and on the hunt for a vocal teacher/coach. As for influences, LOVE grunge music - never stopped listening to it. :-) My all time favourite has to be Nirvana. My favourite current band is Radiohead. Strangely enough, I also sing old-timey country - I can cover Patsy Cline. I can play kinda loungey too. (Ask me for my Mack the Knife!) Other influences include Courtney Love and Hole, Chris Cornell/Soundgarden/Audioslave, Metric, Garbage, the Offspring, Queens of the Stone Age, Wolfmother, the Smashing Pumpkins, Alanis Morrisette, the Tragically Hip, Big Sugar, the Tea Party, Nine Inch Nails, Papa Roach, Coldplay, Jack White, Foo Fighters, Phantogram, Metallica, Judas Priest, U2... I'm sure I've missed some, but that's about it. For old country influences, Johnny Cash absolutely, Willie Nelson, Patsy Cline, Hank Williams Sr., George Jones.. etc. The goats.

I'm an unplugged kinda gal. I have a piano.. (Unmoveable :) and an electric piano - hard to move. I can play about 3 chords on guitar and power chords, if course. Just hand me a mic! Or I'll play your piano alright. ;-) Oh, and 2 broken violins - one signed by Ashley MacIsaac! So I should do something about that...
