ABOUT

I have been gigging for 35 years. I have been with a number of different groups over the years - duos, trios, full bands with a horn section, and solo. I play lots of different styles and enjoy learning new songs to keep things interesting. I play regularly with my band, The Sherri Jackson Band sherrijacksonmusic.ca, and also as a solo artist. I am a solid rhythm/acoustic guitarist (nothing fancy) but my strength is my vocals. I love singing a belty big song just as much as a soft, meaningful song. I'm really good at picking out harmonies and working with other vocalists too. I have a really broad range vocally.

Influences

I love all good music, regardless of genre. I grew up in the 70s so Singer/songwriters - James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, Cat Stevens are big with me. I also love a solid groove (Doobie Brothers) and dynamic harmonies (CSNY, Indigo Girls, Beatles of course). I love singing big female vocals like Stevie Nicks/Christie McVie, Linda Ronstadt, Dolores O'Riordan, Chrissie Hynde. I like the cheese factor of some 70s pop like Bobbie Gentry. Throw in some Radiohead, The Killers, Plain White Tees, Pretenders, Blondie, and, Springsteen. I'm also keen on jazz.
