ABOUT

I enjoy playing acoustic folk style music with some alternatives thrown in the mix. I also enjoy harmony/A-cappella singing, specifically sea shanties and seafaring music (Even before it was cool in 2021!).

I started a shanty band in early 2018 called “Bilgewater" and we played a few fun shows a year including Buccaneer Days in Esquimalt. When Covid hit, the band was put on hold, however, we may try to pull I together for Buccaneer Days in 2022.

During Covid a new project/band emerged called "Born to Sea" that is largely a duo with Guitar/Uke/Bodhran and Fiddle/Accordion. Occasionally another Guitar/Mando player joins us. We tend to play a broad range of fun stuff such as Lukey’s Boat - GBS, Elephant Gun - Beirut, If I had a Boat - Dave Mathews version and Black & Blue - Gregory Alan Isakov. We’re looking at doing some Mandolin Orange and we’ve got a few songs written too!

Happy to play music with like-minded folk either for fun or towards a bigger project! I’m not actively seeking anyone but If you have interest in either of these bands/projects feel free to contact me. I think a base player/stand up base player would be a nice fit for Born to Sea. Search Bilgewater shanty band on Facebook to say hello
