Okay, here's the deal: I've been playing guitar for quite some time and been writing music for a little while, as well. However, I've never played with other musicians. With the exception of playing guitar a few times with some of my friends that have been playing a little while. Which is very rare. I'm not looking to be a big shot commited band guy, I just want to maybe see if I can write some music with other people. Just for fun. I've been playing long enough that I think it's time to try it out. Influences
I'm a pretty big fan of the local rock scene in Southern Ontario, I'm not sure I'd consider these people influences, but they definitely take up alot of my time when I listen to music.
I'd consider Jeff Martin from the Tea Party an influence. I love his style. Alternate tunings and his acoustic sound really appeal to me.
I'm a big fan of bands like Explosions in the sky. Just simple, powerful, melodic, instrumental guitar music.
To go along with the instrumental theme, though I don't listen to him too much as of now, Satriani is a big influence on me. I can't shred like him, but I do love his music and I'm sure his melodies are very influencial for me.
I find alot of the stuff I write is relatively slow and moody music. Not too difficult to play. Just relaxing sh*t. However, I definitely like some of the heavy stuff, as well, and on a certain I love playing it.
