ABOUT

I’m originally from Bangladesh, been living in Canada for more than a decade. I've been playing guitar and songwriting since I was fifteen. I completed a Masters Certificate program in Music Business and Technology at Berklee Music School in 2011. I work out of my home studio.

I also have a separate career as a Geophysicist. I work offshore, which kinda sucks because I’m away from home half the year. But it’s also pretty awesome because when I’m home I can live like a rock star, staying up nights working on my music and sleeping in when everyone else is at work.

I have two musical scenarios going on. The first one is, I started a recording project a couple years ago which I’m in desperate need to complete. I kinda got stuck because life came in the way and I’m also lacking proper musicians. Of course I could program everything, but I really like the sound and the feel of live recording, and that’s what I want for my songs. I could use a guitarist, a pianist, a keyboardist and a fiddler for this project. Anyone interested in getting themselves recorded and producing some refreshing experimental music please get in touch with me at mfrussel at dot com.

The second scenario, I have been in a three piece band since 2001 where I play bass and do the vocals. In the last couple of years our guitarists has turned out to be “not so committed” and we are having to look for options. All of our gigs were for community events. We cover a lot of popular rock songs and folk songs from Bangladesh in a contemporary style as well as our own stuff. There is a lot of room for creativity in out set up since it’s only a three piece band. I’m looking for a guitarist and possibly a keyboard player for my band. We only do a handful of shows each year, so anyone who wants to be committed on a part time basis is totally cool. I also want to start recording and producing our own material. I do all my recording at my home studio where I have a pretty complete set up, check my list of equipment.

If anyone is interested to help me out with my projects and have a lot of fun in the process, please give me a shout at mfrussel at dot com. I love experimenting and I’m open to all kinds of new ideas.
