Biography:
Breaking into the world of music in the 80s, Mitch King began by playing his own original material in the synth-pop band “Danse Forte’.” Slowly becoming a sensation locally, the eclectic band played in the Los Angeles clubbing scene and received local airplay on KROQ. Mitch King’s collective, Danse Forte also succeeded in having their singles place in the Top 10 Best New Songs of 1985, growing their reach and imprint.
Changing his musical trajectory, in the 2000’s Mitch King began playing cover songs in the rockabilly group “Rock Cats Rock”- a band which has played at Southern and Central California club venues for years and still continues to enthrall listeners in live settings. The eclectic artist had 2 original album releases, including “Live in 55”, which was recorded at Sun Studios in Memphis, Tennessee. The stirring album seamlessly captured the unique style and essence of 1950’s music with its raw live sound, with the track, “Bugsy goes to Vegas” charting number one on the Traditional Country/Outlaw/Rockabilly charts on CashBox magazine.
The talented artist followed through with his dynamic sophomore album, intriguingly titled “South Kentucky”, which was recorded locally in Santa Barbara at Hidden City Studios, and produced and engineered by Katy Perry’s engineer. The track “I’m in Love with Crazy” charted number one in the rockabilly/country/American charts on CashBox magazine.
Mitch King evolved his brand to a new identity, namely Mitch King U.S. after the discovery of another artist with the same name in Australia. Mitch King U.S is currently getting ready to record a new EP, while also playing live at several Los Angeles clubs, Ventura, Santa Barbara, Solvang, and Sant Ynez, a practice he has stunningly continued since 1985.
Mitch King U. S’s musical prowess remains complemented by the likes of Kevin Martin on upright Bass, Ben Buttner on Electric guitar, dobro, banjo, and Marco Perez showcasing his brilliance on the drums. Having released albums such as, “Live in 55 and “South Kentucky” and the singles: “Prison Break, “Bugsy goes to Vegas”, and “I'm in love with crazy”, the seasoned artist hopes to release another original album to continue his musical journey.
He also hopes to garner a song placement in television and film, staying true to his rhythmic and characteristic blends of 1950's original rockabilly/country style music with a contemporary flair. Mitch King U.S presents listeners an unfiltered musical vibe, with very little production which adds to the rawness of the sound and vocal delivery in an authentic fashion.
Thematically diverse, Mitch King U. S’s musical compositions talk about the internal dilemmas and crises which a person undergoes, along with emphasis on the rich and riveting narratives of love, life, and individuality.
