Band to Join.

ABOUT

I learned to sight-read piano at 14. I was in many choirs throughout high school, played percussion and drums in classroom setting. During college I learned how to play electronic keyboards. Later, I delved into VST,S and music production software to create and mix tracks. I gained knowledge in synthesizer practice and theory while gaining better piano skills by studying some Bach and Chopin. I then bought Alesis electronic drums to bring my drumming skills to an intermediate level. During the pandemic I brought my low beginner skill at Acoustic guitar to an intermediate level, having an aptitude in finger picking skills as well as excellent timing and good dynamics skills. I am currently learning Guitar songs and improving my piano skills while improvising compositions on guitar and keyboard. Why do I want to join a band? Because I find that improving my skills and compositions is not enough. It is better to play and record with other musicians in order to enjoy playing and entertaining the public.

Influences

Myriad I suppose, some personal with respect to compositions. My parents were literate in theater so early on I was influenced by musical theater and my father's classical jazz collection. The hip-hop, popular music, rock and blues-influenced classical rock informed my taste in music. Later on Reggae, and reggae influenced popular music as well as electronic dance music of the 90's inspired me to pursue keyboard skills. The alternative, punk and metal music influenced my desire to level up my drumming skills. Still the subtle melodies of Bach and Chopin echoed through my
studies in piano. Today, I find inspiration from the great folk artists of the 1970's as well as people like John Mayer and Ed Sheeran in the pursuit of creating great music people will enjoy on my guitar(s). I suppose my greatest influence has been from the progressive rock bands like Genesis and Supertramp. And...Scott Joplin, Beethoven, Gordon Lightfoot, Jeff Porcaro, Neil Peart.....Also, my failures and successes as a composer inform me.
