ABOUT

60-ish-year-old (yeah, that's an old picture...) amateur self-taught electric bassist with stage and studio experience. Not flashy but solid and steady. 100% reliable - I do my homework, I show up on time every time, I show up to play, and I show up ready to play. Love to gig but once a month or so is about my limit, given all the other things I have going on in my life.

Primarily interested in basic rock and pop, focusing on material that people recognize but don't hear very often. Currently thinking that the world could use a good British Invasion cover band - Animals, Kinks, Yardbirds, early Stones, etc. - and would love to get something like that together. Could also be talked into a straight-up rock ’n roll bar band along the lines of the Georgia Satellites, Del Fuegos, Brandos, etc. Love the Cars and would definitely be interested in doing a lot of their material plus other stuff that works with it. Open to all kinds of ideas, though - gimme a shout and we'll see what we can conjure up!

I don’t do booze or drugs; that doesn’t mean that I object to you doing so, but the first time it gets in the way of the band or the music we are done (yes, that's the voice of experience talking).

Influences

James Jamerson, Dee Murray, Nick Simper, Gary Thain, John Glascock, so many others... mostly really good old-school accompanists who make the song more interesting with their solid, creative bass lines without going too far over the top.
