ABOUT

My name is Melina and I'm a solo singer-songwriter creating dark-alt folk melodies. I play a little Martin Dreadnaught Jr. and I have haunting, smokey and intimate vocals that I really want to expand on with a band. I'm in Edmonton now to build my career, but when the time comes for me to expand, I'll move where I need to go. I'm looking for other musicians that want to make big impacts and live a soul fulfilling life.

If you've ever seen some clips of the artist AURORA, her authentic, ethereal and loving presence is a huge inspiration for me, amongst many other powerful female musicians that inspire me too. I would love to have the chance to sing, dance, and blast people with light lol! Shoot for the moon, land amongst the tree tops. Looking to pursue the passion of this without the rush and grind that often leaves musicians burnout and anxious.

I love Liz Cooper, Hayley Williams, Laura Marling, Jose Gonzalez, Sigur Ros, Radiohead, Kae Tempest, Interpol, and an array of different artists.

I make intimate dark-alternative folk songs, but recently added drums, bass and lead guitar on one of my songs while I was recently recording my EP. It sounds so wicked, and I think I'd like to expand on that idea.

I've been playing music since I was a child, specifically singing and playing guitar for live audiences over the last three years.
