ABOUT

I’m a multi instrumentalist, a mature 6th year piano student working hard at RCM level 5 study.

I'm seeking a mature (over 40) intelligent female musical partner to practice with as well as work on melodic composition and hopefully form a duo in Guelph.

This is not a paid position.

The piano music I am practicing is a mix of classical pieces as found in my RCM books along with a few adult contemporary pieces which I learn in a mixed means (written and by-ear).

I have strong auditory learning skills as compared to my sight reading skills.

I'd like for you to bring to the table (even as a student) skills such as flute, clarinet, oboe, harp. Instrumental music only, no vocals.

I hope you will be familiar with the likes of Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Richard and Karen Carpenter, Billy Joel as well as some of the RCM study material.

Bit of my background: I played electric bass guitar by moonlight for 30 years in various hired-gun positions in Toronto before learning Russian Gusli/Latvian Kokle in a therapeutic bedside musician capacity in hospitals which I did from 2010 to 2019.

I initially started piano lessons in 2003 but had to halt until 2018 when I could resume. It is piano I am resuming with now.

Note: Due to personal circumstances I must remain near Guelph as I am a fulltime caregiver. Venturing far and about for my own interests just isn't possible very often so ideally I'd prefer to have musicians meet at my home. Thank you for understanding.

Influences

Many northern European influences - but most people today here in Canada would have never heard of them.

Aside from some classical preferences, I enjoy the music of the Carpenters, the harmonies of ABBA, also I enjoy exploring some music from movies, music from the 1930s.
