ABOUT

I am starting to play again, and i am looking to put a band together, to put together some music for recording/demo, and use it to start gigging with the said band.
Will pay for sessions.

Band will play 60 era jazz, Trane/Miles/Ornette, most materials will be chordal/modal but open which allows/calls for improvisation and stretching, Sound will be in the tradition but more electric, and with more hip-hop influences time feels.

Influences

Most of my influences are Jazz horn players ( Be Bop, Hard Bop and avant-garde- You know Bird, Dizz, Trane, Ornette, Dolphy, and Ornette;s quartet, Trane's 60s groups, and Miles and his 60 groups). While I like Wes, Grant Green and Kenny Burrel, most of my influences of guitar were blues players. The exception of James Blood Ulmer, he influenced me. I love Sonny Greenwhich, but by the time I heard him I was already developing my style, hearing him made me feel I was not crazy . I have a heavily blues appraoch to playing jazz. When I stopped playing what we were doing sounded alot like Ask the Ages by Sonny Sharrock. II am looking to put a band together that plays 60's materials, compositions by Shorter, Hankok, Trane. Players who can play in and out, and are based in the blues. It will be more electric and time feels more groovy/funky but in the tradition.

EQUIPMENT

I assume players will have their own kits. I am willing to rent some equipment, maybe electric piano (wulitzer) as it may be better for the sound I am looking for. Prefer stand up bass, but not adverse to electric player with right feel sound. All players have to be able/willing improvisers/soloist .

First I am looking for three sessions. One to jam to see how it works, then work out arrangements ( not that they will be complicated at all)/ practice, and then record.

after that, will try to get monthly if not weekly gigs. Paid for the band.
