SEEKING
Band to Join.ABOUT
Female vocalist with a gift of connecting with a variety of different audiences, musicians and sounds. I have always found music to be real life magic as it can influence moods, energies and new ways of feeling. I am more naturally inclined to jazz and blues notes and rhythms, which is why I sometimes also really enjoy singing in certain metal genres such as progressive or doom metal. My latest performance was in Ottawa with Crimson Ash who is a progressive metal band. I have been professionally vocally trained and my learning was predominantly jazz, with some folk and country blues/jazz. My training resumes again in January.
I have always been a singer, though I didn't start to really take myself and my vocals seriously until I moved to Montreal for a fresh perspective and to find creative people willing to make music and art together and master our crafts together. I learned so much during my 3-4 years in Montreal and met so many influential people who really helped me feel safe and encouraged to share my voice with others.
I don't have much by means of equipment since moving back to Ottawa a year ago. I have decided to wait until I find a steady band who is actually serious about regularly meeting, practicing and working on setlists together.
My experience is mostly neighborhood jam sessions, garden parties with my Poppa's swamp water jazz band, helping to run open-mic nights from my friends' home studio, and playing casually at pubs and festivals. I have never had my own paid gig, but would really like to. I have been a featured guest singer for another band's paid gig, but I do not count that as my own paid gig! It has just been a bit of a challenge to find people who are serious and consistent and reliable.
Please note i selected "unspecified" for "I am most available..." because it didn't have the options I needed :) I am available in late afternoons and in the evenings during the week. I can have later sessions on a Friday or Saturday. Weekends tend to be wide open, as long as I have notice.
Looking forward to connecting! :)

Influences
First and foremost Fiona Apple.... she taught me so many things besides physical vocal technique and breath work. Other strong influences include Sierra Ferrell, Chelsea Wolfe, Julie London, Bridge City Sinners, AURORA, Lake Street Drive, Janis Joplin, Susan Tedeschi, Amy Winehouse and probably much much more! Also very influence by stoner doom, psychedelic, fuzz.....for example Faetooth and Ruby and the Hatchet.

EQUIPMENT
I have an acoustic guitar and ukelele, otherwise my vocals are my equipment :) I am very lucky to have freinds in the music industry who generously bring me into their studios to jam or to help me work on something and let me use their equipment.
