Newish to Montreal, seeking casual home/park jams and partners for pub open-mics: any practice vibing with a solid acoustic guitar is always worthwhile for a guy tryin to hone everything else, as I am.
Equally keen to open to gigging with a committed partner. For set lists I revere roots standards, i.e. songs too often covered to leave any one studio version definitive. I consider an original tune perfected when listeners ask me who wrote it, as if it evokes a similar old-timey pedigree at first-listen. The rest of my tunes are mostly underplayed deep-cuts a superior can really own. I avoid covering karaoke-style nostalgia hits, but I'm game to cover the odd pop or classic rock/country tune IF we can re-arrange it to contrast the original, e.g. strip-down unplugged, or conversely, electrify a tune known best as acoustic.

Influences
Let's define 'folk' as music that 'seems older than living memory;' so revels in explicitly local references. 'country' should not mean suburbanite soft-rock. Plenty of acoustic-guitar pop is not at all folk music (guitar crooners e.g. Passenger, Ed Shereen, etc); but electric folk can and does exist (Fairport Convention).
