Bass Guitar, Upright bass.ABOUT
As full-time musicians and leaders of the five piece, "Lang & Ackroyd Band," in the 1970s and 1980s, my violin-playing wife, Mary Ackroyd, and I performed full time, six days a week, touring the USA, Canada and Europe. We recorded two albums and two singles. In our retirement, after a 30-year hiatus, we've returned as a duo, playing seniors' and long-term care homes. Our 200+
songlist included '30s and '40s pop and jazz standards, country,
bluegrass, blues, folk and instrumentals. We both sing and
harmonize. We're interested in playing with a similarly retired
bassist who can handle light jazz, etc., ideally on an upright. We
would play informally as a trio, and occasionally as a trio at one of
six or seven of our regularly scheduled gigs. We currently do 60-80 performances per year. For us a bassist is a "nice to have". Our
performances are for the benefit of seniors, are afternoons, only, and not revenue-driven. Any honorarium would be shared, but it would be gas money, and likely little more.

EQUIPMENT
Dead simple: We each play through a high-end Fishman amp, vocals and instruments; Shure 58 mics; I use a looper to record rhythm as I play so I can add lead as well; our instruments are professional quality, violin, acoustic (Gallagher, Martin D28) and electric (Ibanez) guitars. We play only small rooms, audiences of 20-60.
