composition and solid arrangements are enhanced by the experience of Japhy Ryder's
explosive live performances and captivating presence.
Japhy Ryder's magnetic energy is fuelled by Michael Stanfield's provocative lyrics,
infectious rhythms and insightful themes which are both intimate and global in scope.
In 2001 the core of the band took form with Rick Beddia playing inspired lead guitar
and Mike Kerr providing percussive accents. The sound would be further solidified with
the addition of Rob De Simone and Bobby Crane driving the rhythm section on drums
and bass. Japhy Ryder's music has substance, character and is delivered with
a passionate voice giving the music an inviting quality.
2005 has provided many interesting developements with Michael Stanfield impressing
at the RockStarINXS auditions and making it on to the shortlist for the show, and
most recently the song "Alright" won a finalist placement in the John Lennon Songwriting
Contest. Currently in the studio to record a new album the coming year promises
great things for Japhy Ryder. Inspired by the relationship between ourselves and our surroundings
Japhy's songs are a true exploration and a potent musical force
with limitless possibilities and bountiful energy.
