...you are a bassist or guitarist who is very comfortable and creative with your instrument, and who is looking to devote more than a large part of their life to play with a rock band.
...you’ve done this before, and know that it’s a huge commitment, but that doesn’t phase you because you love the whole act of musical creation--whether playing on stage before a packed house, an empty house, grinding away at the practice space, or lugging amps and drums up flights of stairs, because it’s all music, and it’s all you’ve ever wanted to do.
...you are musical, in that you can communicate using music; you can speak the language of music-theory with your bandmates; you can write interesting parts that enhance the song (or even write your own songs); you understand the current esthetic of popular music and realize that the definition of a successful band is a popular one.
...you are comfortable on stage--hell, you play even better on stage--you have a image/attitude that younger fans can identify with, can make a character of yourself, and understand what is meant by ‘putting on a show’.
...you have the time and the willpower to give this project everything it needs to explode into public consciousness: three practices a week, one live practice per week, up-and-coming shows, plus recording time. And most importantly, you ACTUALLY WILL devote this time and willpower to the project if we jive.
About us:
Two dedicated twenty-something males--a drummer and a guitarist/singer--trying to cement a solid lineup after much turbulence. Great material with which to get rolling; many ideas to expand upon and willingness to experiment and collaborate at length when the time is right (once we have a show rehearsed and ready to bring to venues). Fully equipped and with awesome downtown practice space.
We love many musical styles, and incorporate many different influences from latin and jazz rhythms to punk ripping to stoner rock punches to bizarre atonality. We've found our niche in heavy indie rock, but love to push the limits of convention to find new ways of playing popular music. Oh, and we play loud.
