Influences

I've been exposed to just about every genre of music that includes acoustic or electric drums. I'm currently in the BMus program at the University of Alberta studying with the principal percussionist of the Edmonton Symphony.
I've played:
Big band (high school years, I'm a big fan of it)
country (currently committed to a full time local band, non-negotiable)
classical (both wind band and orchestra)
rock (I grew up on it)
metal (not very well)
all manners of pop.

EQUIPMENT

I have two drum kits and several snare drums.
Gretsch Catalina Club Rock (6.5x14 snare, 9x13 and 16x16 toms, 16x24 kick), maple mahogany shells.
Mapex M Series (18x22 kick, 16x16, 10x14, 9x12, 8x10 toms, 5x14 snare)

I have two additional snare drums.
Yamaha Steve Gadd signature 4x14 snare drum, #0549.
Grover Pro Custom Shop prototype concert snare drum, 6.5x14 solid black birch shell.

I have a wide selection of cymbals to work across different genres. I will update this list as I make acquisitions.
Zildjian: 20" K Custom Dark ride, 14" A New Beats hats, 16" K Sweet crash.
Sabian: 14", 16", 18", 20" XS20 box set, 10" XS20 splash, 8" B8 splash, 18" B8 China.

I use a multitude of mallets (mostly malletech models) for concert percussion, Cooperman drumsticks for concert snare, and Vater sticks for everything else.

Eventually I'll have my kits fitted with all coated Remo Ambassador/Emperor heads, and a Remo Renaissance Ambassador on the Grover snare.
