Hello,

We are the Good Shepherd Music Group ("the GSMG"), consisting of both a traditional worship team and choir as well as a contemporary music group for The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd (“the ELCGS”), located at 1630 Lawrence Avenue West in North York.

We are looking for a new music director/keyboard player to lead our traditional worship team and choir.

We are also looking for a bass player to compliment our contemporary music group.

***MUSIC DIRECTOR/KEYBOARD PLAYER***

This is a PAID position.

2. Proficiency playing piano and/or organ;
3. Ability to conduct and teach our worship team and choir in terms of sound, melody and harmony
4. Ability to play piano for the country gospel music we perform during our occasional contemporary worship services;
5. Available to rehearse one night a week (currently Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:30pm) with our choir and music group; and

***BASS PLAYER***

This is a VOLUNTEER position.

Aside from our regular traditional Sunday services, our church occasionally holds a contemporary Sunday service.

During our contemporary services, we perform country gospel music. We have been rehearsing and performing together for almost 2 years now, and we perform songs such as "I Saw the Light", "I'll Fly Away", "Jesus Hold My Hand", "Jordan's Banks", "Just A Little Talk with Jesus", and “Precious Memories", as well as other songs, including several hymns that we have adapted to our group.

The group comprises lead vocals/rhythm guitar, keyboards, drums and bass. We are looking for a new bass guitar player.

Requirements:

1. Familiarity playing country gospel music
2. Available to rehearse one night a week (currently Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:30pm); and
3. Available to attend our contemporary Sunday services between 10am-12pm, and the occasional non-Sunday service

Non-requirements (but we welcome):

1. An ability to sing vocal harmonies;
2. A willingness to sing in our choir during our traditional Sunday services;
3. Any A/V expertise (eg. familiarity with LogicPro, iMovie, etc.); and
4. Any social media expertise (eg. Facebook, Youtube, etc.)

***More About Us***

The ELCGS has provided a place for Lutheran service and worship since 1960.

We are a committed group, friendly, and supportive of each other. We offer a lovely sanctuary to rehearse and perform in. Our equipment is new and fully functional, and includes a full PA system, a multi-track mixer, full microphone setup, IEMs for all musicians in the contemporary music group, as well as a Roland RD2000 keyboard for our music director to perform on.

Our services are recorded live and uploaded to our YouTube channel. It is our intention, once we find a new music director/keyboard player and a dedicated bass player, to record more polished versions of the hymns and songs that we perform.

If your are interested in either applying for the music director/keyboard player position or in playing bass guitar for us, please reach out. We’d love to hear from you - all we ask is that you be committed, friendly, and supportive, as well.

You can view both our traditional and contemporary services on our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_Zcgei9t7VynUJ3gQ9sM5A. Our last contemporary service was held on January 29, 2023.

We hope to hear from you soon.

Blessings in Christ,

- The GSMG
