ABOUT

Growing Irons is a band, formed in Guelph, that brings together a wide variety of musical styles, with influences from Jazz, Folk, Progressive Rock, Metal, Djent and Art Rock.

With a desire to change pop music rather than conform to it, the band members have set out to create music with a new kind of originality without sounding "weird." Wild tunings, chord progressions and time signatures are thrown into the mix while still using the elements of music that have become mainstream in different contexts to keep people guessing.

Lyrically, the writers (Primarily Ben and Nathan) try to shy away from the cliches so many pop musicians tend to fall back on. The words look deeper into human nature, into perspective, into the deepest of human needs, into what it is to find ones self. They are deeply personal, but often cryptic, leaving space for listeners to find their own meaning within.

Up until recently the band performed as an acoustic trio with 2 guitars and bass. However, the group is currently reworking old material and writing new material for a rock trio format. This new format will contain keys, bass, guitar, vocals and drums.
