Hello and welcome to my profile!

I am a born and raised Brazilian living in Canada for over 7 years, with a master's degree in electrical engineering. Also a metalhead since the age of 11!

And a huge car guy as well (proud owner of a '23 Toyota GR Supra MT)!

I have played electric guitar for 2 years during my high school years, but after starting my studies and focusing on the beginning of my engineering career, I sadly abandoned it. Now, after my company went bankrupt and I have lots of practice time, my passion for music reignited... but in a lower frequency!

I am just making my profile to explore the local music scene, with an interest in joining a band in the near-ish future. I want to be sure to be able to contribute as much as I can instead of taking too much time to learn during practice sessions.

I started bass on Oct/2025 with a serious commitment, and have been practicing for at least 5 hours a day.

I am also dedicating several hours a day in learning a lot about several other aspects of music, such as

- Music Theory
- Music Composing
- Band Management (it was in a course bundle I bought, so why not?)
- Digital Interfaces
- Recording and Mixing Techniques with focus on heavy metal with Reaper DAW
- Effects (analog hardware, digital hardware and software-based – i.e. plug-ins – options)
- Guitar and Bass Construction, Setup, Electronics and Maintenance
- Amplifier and Speaker Design and Repair

all through free and paid courses. I also have in-person tutoring from time to time to make sure I am progressing on the right direction.

I am at a point where I can fully and flawlessly play easy-ish songs, such as Talking Head's "Psycho Killer" and Rage Against the Machine's "Born of a Broken Man", and even advancing on harder ones such as Iron Maiden's "Sign of the Cross", Metallica's "For Whom the Bell Tolls" and Black Sabbath's "N.I.B." with a "meh" quality. But always improving!

My M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering is handy at repairing and modifying electronics and also cable management! (believe me, this last one is more important than you think)

My studies and career also help a lot when it comes to problem solving. I am the one performing all setup and modifications on my instrument (such as hardware upgrade and electronics control change from Volume-Volume-Tone to Volume-Blend-Tone)... and so far, my bass didn't spontaneously caught on fire! So I guess I am good on it! ... or at least I don't suck at it.

Meh, anyways, thanks for stopping by!

EQUIPMENT

Bass Guitar Yamaha TRBX174EW (modified electronics and hardware): my trusty axe in the sacred quest for the Holy Tone. Sounds, looks and play pretty well, especially after modifications, so I am not looking to upgrade it for now.

Combo Amp Peavey Microbass (20W): to be upgraded if needed... although it has enough oompf to keep up in a jamming session. Doesn't sound that good, but I practice only with headphones anyways.

Multi-Effects Processor Valeton GP-100: to be upgraded in the near future. After I advanced a lot on understanding digital effects, it is now posing a limitation on what I can do.
