ABOUT

I am forming an experimental chamber music group. Right now, there are three of us (2 guitars and a drummer/guitarist). The group will hopefully be a nice mixture of rock and classical instrumentation. We invite strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion (tuned, and otherwise) to play in our group. I would call it post-rock, but I don't want it to sound like your run of the mill post-rock group. The music we were thinking of playing will not be very technically challenging, but will instead focus on emphasizing harmony and dynamics in an attempt to invoke powerful emotions and imagery. No single musician will be emphasized; we work together as one ensemble to create our sound together. There will be a lot of room for creativity and sonic experimentation. While the band will primarily be instrumentals, we are also thinking of adding a choral voice section.

The music we play will be recorded rather than notated. We were also thinking of doing long free-form improvisations, and going back and extracting the moments of the improvisation that we like.

If this interests you, please contact us. We are very inviting people, and we are not looking for virtuosos (but if you are, that's great!). We are ambitious and looking to create beautiful and unique music. Age is not a factor for us. If you join up than you would have a say in the creative process, because we want to collaborate.

Guitar, and a computer with synthesizers, an interface, a shitty amp (I'm saving up for a better one). My bandmates have some good gear, though.
