I'm a singer song writer looking for fellow musicians (and singers) to collaborate with recording and performing original material and also selected cover tunes. I would really like to meet a female vocalist who's voice blends well with my own to sing duets and collaborations with. I have been recording material with some friends in Garageband over the past couple of years and there are a few rhythm track examples loaded here. I would describe my musical and writing style as pretty eclectic - I have written songs for many different genres depending on my mood that particular day. Maybe Indie or Alternative best describes my style? I think so but you may not !!! I can be contacted at drhwpg at gee mail dot com.

I like a lot of different styles of music and I enjoy experimenting with different sounds and genres. Hmm influences?? Neil Young is an all time rocker who has always done it 'his way' and I respect him for that. I love Bob Marley's music and the Police from the old days. Country wise - Emmy Lou and Gram Parsons, John Prine and Kacey Musgraves for a newer artist. I like Gord Downey's writing and the Tragically Hip. Mostly I like music that touches my 'spine' and doesn't need to be explained. On any given day or minute of the day that could be Bach, Debussy, Hank Williams, Peter Tosh, The Clash, Luke Bryan, Patty Smith or someone I've yet to discover.
Hope you enjoy the songs uploaded here !!!!!!
- Rhythm Guitar:
I have a few guitars - well maybe more like 12 - a collection of acoustics and electrics. I have a few mic's and a couple of amps. I record on my IMAC in Garageband. I also own an older upright piano. For recording I use a Line 6 POD HD500 simulator to run my guitars through.
Like a Rolling Stone
Like a Rolling Stone Track number: 1 Genre: Alternative
This 'old thing' was voted the best all time rock and roll song by Rolling Stone Magazine.
William and Nellie
William and Nellie Track number: 2 Genre: Alternative
I wrote this song about my grand parents (who I have never met). They came to Canada from England in 1902. I can't imagine what it must have been like or what they were thinking.
My My Hey Hey
My My Hey Hey Track number: 3
This is the first song I every tried to record in Garageband. It was very fun to do . . . but also painful to listen too in some ways !!!! My friend Gary's funky guitar licks still sound great every time I listen to this !!!!!
Some Kind of a Girl
Some Kind of a Girl Track number: 4
Wrote this song for all the West End girls . . . some kind of a girl, some kind of a heart, some kind of a day, some kind of a start.
Your Best Laid Plans
Your Best Laid Plans Track number: 5 Genre: Alternative
This is a song for a friend of mine who got mixed up with a girl who was involved with someone else - they thought they had a secret but of course everyone knew. As I think Robert Burns wrote - the best laid plans of mice and men oft go awry - and that was the case this this time as well.
Rockin In the Free World
Rockin In the Free World Track number: 6 Genre: Alternative
More fun from Neil . . . who wouldn't want to play this song as loud as possible !!!!!!
