Band to Join.

Playing original material and writing bass lines is what I am mainly interested in, but having some covers in the mix is good too.

I’ve been playing bass since I was young kid. I took a few long breaks in my 30’s, picking it up and putting it down again, and then I started playing on a regular basis again these last few years. I was recently playing in a band that was working on a set for playing out (originals and some covers) but we unfortunately dispersed; so I’d like to join a band and get back at it in the near future.

My meter is solid, I have good feel/groove and I pick up fairly quickly. I am also comfortable singing back up vocals.

Most recently I've been really enjoying a band called the Black Pumas (soul rhythm and blues) and a trio called Khruangbin (kind of a psychedelic, soul groove). I listen to everything from The Roots, The Raconteurs and Gary Lee Clark Jr. to Radiohead and Queens Of The Stone.
My early influences are fairly classic, like Zeppelin, Hendrix, 70's ZZ Top and CCR and some of Alice Cooper's 70's material.

My current go-to is a Music Man (4 string bass). I also have a fretless Fender Jazz (4 string bass). I used to own a Fender Precision and will be looking to pick one up again sometime soon. I have a modest pedal board but I am not a big effects guy; it's mostly for a tuner and a compressor. The amp I am playing through is a Mesa Boogie 'Walk About Scout', which is plenty loud for a jam space; easily keeping up with a drums and a couple of loud guitar amps.
