ABOUT

Hello there. Dali Van Gogh is currently accepting auditions for the position of drummer in the band. We are in the late stages of production on 3 albums (one of new material, one acoustic reimagining of past material, and a live record) that will be released under the Warner Music umbrella through our label Wormholedeath, and have plans to tour extensively in 2026, both at home and out of country.

We are looking for a talented (probably goes without saying), reliable, and hard-working drummer with an easy-going yet professional attitude. Ideally between the ages of 20 and 35. Must have a vehicle and be able to commit to two rehearsals a week. We have a rehearsal space in Lawrencetown that is fully equipped including a drum kit. You will only need breakables on a regular rehearsal basis.

We have our own tour vehicle (a well-maintained 2022 RV), all our own lighting and sound equipment, and professional tech(s) where needed to operate everything. We run exclusively on an in ear monitoring system, and have a pair of wired belt packs for our drummer, so you will only need to bring your in-ear monitors themselves. We can provide a spare set for audition purposes if needed.

Dali Van Gogh has reached a point where the band’s expenses are largely covered by its income. However, nobody is taking home any significant sums of money yet. We are at a break even point so to speak. That said, up front expenses for marketing or touring do happen from time to time (T-Shirts cost money before they make money), so having a reliable source of income while not 100% mandatory is heavily encouraged. All touring and even our local events are typically booked many months in advance to facilitate this.

Once we begin the release schedule and promotional cycle for these 3 albums, we are hoping to transition our business model from break even to net positive, with the goal of garnering enough regular income that (baring any significant setbacks) we can all move to full time musicians in the next 3-5 years. This means continuous touring at the club and theatre level (500-1000 capacity spaces). You’ll find no delusions of grandeur here, but we do have a genuine business plan that is about 5-6 years (of 10) in depending on how you measure what we could achieve during the covid lock downs. So we are well on our way.

We play live, no click tracks, no backing tracks. Closest we come is the odd intro track or sound effects between songs. So please bare that in mind.

Lastly, we are a sober band, meaning we do not drink or do any drugs during band time or while on the road together. What you do in your own time is of course your prerogative as long as it does not interfere with band activities. Anyone wishing to audition will have to be ok with this as this is not negotiable.
Those interested can please send over audition materials to contactusdalivangoghmusic.com with the subject like “Drummer”. Please be sure to include a brief bio, musical background, and a video of your playing. Don’t worry about the quality, just something so that we can hear you.

Don’t be afraid to audition. Our last drummer came from nothing particularly exciting, and was with us for 7 years. It will be much more about your ability to pick up the material and your gelling with the band than anything you’ve done prior to this.

Thanks in advance and hope to hear from you soon.
