New rock project as of Jan 2026. Currently (as of the 1st week of July) working with a top-tier Canadian publicist to promote my debut album, dropping August 28, 2028. Looking for band members willing to practice once a week in Squamish at our private rehearsal space (it's a secure lockout). Looking to perform locally only (Vancouver). Seeking a lead guitarist with excellent stage presence. Also considering a bassist and drummer. Background vocals are an asset. Goal is to build a long-term performing band following the album release. The focus is on performing the Criminal Hero catalog live, with a handful of covers to round out the set as we build toward headlining shows.

Founded by songwriter and guitarist Rick Harkness, Criminal Hero is a Canadian rock project born in Toronto, shaped in Detroit, and now based in Vancouver. Drawing on a lifetime of musical influences while staying firmly focused on the present, Harkness has crafted a sound that bridges classic rock attitude and modern precision. The project’s ties to Detroit’s legendary rock lineage have already earned recognition from SPIN Magazine, which described Criminal Hero as “a refreshing blast of pure Detroit-powered punk rock from Canada in the spirit of The Stooges and the MC5.”
Written across multiple chapters of life, the album emerged from years of change, loss, reinvention, and renewal. Rather than documenting a single event, the songs reflect the experience of repeatedly starting over, confronting adversity, and finding meaning on the other side. The result is a record that feels both deeply personal and universally relatable.
More than a collection of songs, Walk Through the Fire was conceived from a single creative headspace. Each track occupies its own emotional territory while contributing to a larger narrative arc that moves from ignition and momentum through conflict and fracture to clarity. The cohesion is intentional, reflecting a project built not by chasing trends but by following a singular artistic vision.
That spirit runs throughout Walk Through the Fire, Criminal Hero’s forthcoming debut album. Built on warm, saturated guitar tones, driving rhythms, and memorable hooks, the album delivers rock music with purpose and personality. The vocal performances balance swagger, conviction, and just enough theatricality to give each song its own identity, while the production maintains a cohesive sonic vision from start to finish.
