Hey there,
I'm an early 30s drummer who's looking to join or start a project here in Calgary. I've played for over 20 years and have been in a few different bands; they have all fit into the progressive/alternative/rock genres, although I gained experience playing jazz as well as the drummer for my middle/high school jazz bands. Tried to make a serious go at it by moving to Vancouver with my band a few years back, but other priorities got in the way.
Main influences include Foo Fighters, Silverchair, Filter, Deftones, Smashing Pumpkins and other rock acts from the late 90's and early 2000's, although I've been getting into mellower stuff and prog rock in recent years (Elbow, Steven Wilson, etc).
I'd love to find an original or cover band who plays a similar style, although I'd be open to other genres. Not looking for anything too serious (I'm committed to another career path and have a day job), but I hope to find some like-minded musicians who like to have fun playing music without a lot of drugs or drinking (haha). I have my own kit.
