Mohawk College Music Student
Passionate For Percussion
Aspiring Musician
Versatile

Drumming and Music has always played a part in Chris' life, as a young boy he was always surrounded by music and performance as his Father is a Musician and Percussionist. Being born into a musical family, his love for music and the drums came from watching his Father who later handed Chris his first pair of sticks with a minor lesson, passing down the gift leading him to where he is today.

At the age of 12 Chris formed his first band with his friends in Elementary school to enter the talent show. From there he stuck around with a few of the original members forming many bands throughout High School entering different battle of the band competitions at school and around town. Towards the end of his High School journey his band “Mondays Mourning” won Stamford Collegiate’s Battle of The Bands in 2007. Mondays Mourning carried on and played multiple shows and venues around Ontario opening up for bands like The Matadors, The Creep Show, Threat Signal, Johnny Truant, and more. This then led them to the studio where they cut their first self-titled EP “Mondays Mourning” at 14 years old.

After High School Chris went on and joined all kinds of bands trying to make something out of his passion and follow his dreams. With many difficulties with bands and musicians he stepped back deciding to focus on himself. Listening to endless records, reading books, watching live concerts, videos and DVDs of his favorite bands and drummers, he began to self-educate taking things more serious to further study his craft.

Realizing all he wanted to do was play and be surrounded by music, in 2018 Chris decided he wanted to attend music school to be professionally trained and educated in music. He then was enrolled into Mohawk College and later graduated with honors from the Music Preparatory Program landing on the Dean's List and awarded with the “City of Hamilton” Bursary Award. Chris then went back to Mohawk College and enrolled into the schools 3 year Applied Music Program to achieve a Degree in Music, majoring in Percussion.

Since then, Chris has sat in with multiple different bands for recording sessions and performing around his town fulfilling his ambition of being a Session Musician. Chris got offered a job to sit in with the Funk/Soul band “The Montebello's” who were a long-established band around the Niagara Region for a single show which then turned into a full-time job. They played at venues all around the Niagara Region and GTA with their final show being at the Coca Cola Concert Series playing over Niagara Falls in 2018. In between The Montebello's Chris joined a local Southern Rock band under the name “The Jay Diem Band” who were nominated multiple times at the Niagara Music Awards later winning twice for Adult and Contemporary and Album of The Year.

Chris has managed to play at venues like The Horseshoe Tavern, Monarch Tavern, Coca Cola Concert Series, Niagara Music Awards, Sherkston Shores Resort, L3, Bissell’s Hideaway, Jordan House Tavern, Club 55, St. David’s Carnival Events, Grand Central, The Berkeley Bicycle Club, McIntrye Performing Arts Centre, Scotia Bank Centre, Port Dalhousie, Rennie Park, Big Texas, Cats Caboose, The Detour opening for Leigh MacInnis from Trailer Park Boys. Hes also had appearances on television performing original music with The Jay Diem Band on CHCH Morning Live in 2018, performing with Danny Lamb and The Association at the Niagara Music Awards aired on Cogeco TV in 2018, and performing at the Scotia Bank Centre at the 2019 Niagara Music awards with The Jay Diem Band Winning Adult and Contemporary Artist of The Year which was aired on YourTV Niagara as well. Chris was also honored to end 2019 with receiving the Niagara Review Readers' Choice Award for Best Local Band/Artist landing as a Platinum Winner presented to The Jay Diem Band.

Since launching his YouTube Channel and creating social media platforms, Chris has caught the eye of many artists with his work. He has had the pleasure to do multiple recording collaborations with independent artists across the globe, resulting in an international network and connection.

Chris an extremely dedicated musician and is extremely passionate about his instrument. He has spent several years and endless hours, practicing, playing, performing, and self-studying to sculpt his craft. His goal is to be as versatile as possible in having experience playing many different genres and styles. Being a natural Alternative/Classic Rock drummer, Chris has learned to play Funk/Soul/Rnb, Pop, Country, Disco, Jazz, Reggae, Blues, Hip-Hop, Heavy Metal and even some Latin music along the way. Chris has been involved with many different musicians locally, bands, projects, festivals and events, recordings, and performances on his journey and continues to learn and educate daily.
