Currently seeking musicians for new project. Traditional Irish music mixed with a funk rhythm section. I am a songwriter and bass player with many years experience in bars and at festivals and multiple full length recordings done in professional studios.
I have a few people already, but am willing to shift the lineup around to accommodate the right fits.
My principal needs to form the core of the band are someone who can play the banjo like a funk guitar (i.e. the Catfish Collins of the banjo), a fiddle player who really has the traditional Irish sound down, someone to play tin whistle and flute, and horns, trumpet for sure, maybe with bari sax or bass trombone. Keyboardists and multi-instrumentalists encouraged to apply. I know the sound I want but have an open mind about how to produce it.
The sound I have in mind is from upbeat trad music like O'Neill's Cavalry March to the more fiddle heavy seventies funk like Shout ! by BT Express. The plan is one set Celtified funk, one set funkified trad, and one set originals.
