Ever since I was 13/14 I've been playing acoustic and classical guitar and writing songs. I'm now 30. I have remained at a sort of intermediate level and mostly just use chords and strum. I was taught by a local musician and we stuck to fairly basic chords and different strumming patterns. I only ever learned part of Black Bird in terms of plucking and have just started exploring beyond that slightly.
In regards to writing songs though I have written approximately 10, give or take, songs that I am happy with and feel are completed for the most part.
For a few years now I have been wanting to try to take them to a different level and share them with people close to me in some way. I don't want to do anything public, just having music that I can share with my friends and family. I am quite shy when it comes to my music. My partner of 3 years hasn't even heard a song of mine because I just feel so shy. Some of my songs are quite personal and have felt like journal entries, so it's a little bit vunerable, thus why I am wanting to just share it with just my friends and family.
Anywayssss... I want to connect with someone who plays piano or writes music themselves. Someone who I could share these with and we could explore turning into something that I can't do but can hear in my own head right now. I can't change them anymore than I have because I just don't have the instrumental skills. Additional guitar would be really cool to play around with, piano for sure, other vocals, cello, violin etc. My music style I think is something like indie folk something? Lower vocals and lots of Am, Em, G. I don't really have much music knowledge to be honest. I can't read music, I don't know any scales, never took band in school etc. It's just more by sound and feel.
