ABOUT

A Match for the Curious hails from Toronto, featuring five young, driven musicians, sharing the same vision through their music. AMFTC speaks with authority, courage and emotion through their lyrics and catchy rhythms; sending powerful and inspirational messages to their audiences.

Brandon Ross (lead vocals), Steve Genua (rhythm guitar), Les Schaeffer (Drums) and Robin Dworak (bass guitar) each bring their unique personal style and influence to AMFTC. With some formal music training and much experimentation, each band member has carved out their personal style. Their chemistry is undeniable. They electrify their audiences with raw emotion and energy. Their style incorporates 70’s guitar riffs, 80’s inspired solos, and the raw emotion of 90’s grunge to create a sound that is uniquely hard rock. Brandon Ross, provides authentic, powerful lyrics that blend well with the chemistry and passion that each band member brings to collaborative songwriting. It wasn’t long before the band played their very first show at the "Vans Warped Tour" in August 2007, only two months after they were formed. It provided a great opportunity for the band to test drive their material and their on-stage musical style.
In 2008 the band went in to the studio and started doing pre-production for their up-coming 4 song ep which was to be recorded at metal works studios in mississauga, On. they released it a few months later and started gaining alot of attention and alot of opportunities to play shows. this lead them to perfect their stage show.

They embarked on their next round of competition through The Emergenza, Music Festival; an independent label that provides opportunities for indie bands to compete in 17 countries. This prompted the band to focus on songwriting and refining their sound.
On June 28, 2008 AMFTC played Le Medley in Montreal, Quebec, winning the coveted Emergenza Canadian first place that would take them to the finals in Rothenburg, Germany. On August 8, 2008 AMFTC played the Taubertal Open Air Festival to a roaring crowd of 20,000. The two day festival saw them place third out of the 18 international acts in the final. All members of AMFTC received honours for their ability during the emerganza competition.
in 2010 they entered another another competition called 4 the Rekord put on by award winning producer Joel kazmi. After winning several semi finals AMFTC took home the 1st place prize at the final. They won a full length record, recorded at metal works studios and produced by Joel kazmi.

A Match for the Curious has become a recognized name in and around the Toronto region, bringing their sound to Lee’s Palace, The El Mocambo, The Opera House, the Sound Academy and many other recognized venues. They have also embraced the college and university scene, performing live on a number of radio and internet stations.
