I'm Alix Jackson the lead vocalist of the band Xpress Musica. I have been singing and playing drums and percussion for years. I pursued my interest by self teaching how to play drums and harmonica.
Born in Dolisie (Republic of the Congo) from a big family, I am the youngest of 9 children. And most of us are musically inclined.
I showed my interest into music in 1990' where I started showing my dance moves ....
I was discovered in the eye of the religious public in mid 90' by my performances in the "Messagers de la Foi" group together with "Bana Membres" while collaborating with "Booth" (where I played one of the key roles) the drama group of the Salle Central of the Salvation Army.
Then giving myself "drum training" by beating a table with sticks at home, I then learned how to perform as drummer.
Years later, in 2002, I moved into Canada, met with Jeik Loksa (Umvweke) where both teamed up for the creation of the local band called Mopaya. and quickly becomes the vocalist, percussionist and dancer in front of audiences. It is on scene, that I repeats unceasingly dance moves with MJ and my own style (through some titles like "Simba Ngai Makassi", and "Basala" which appears in the album Sango Yango released on December 17, 2004, and the Congolese dance for the majority of the repertory) and shows an ease social apparent where as my personality is calm and reserved.
After several years of passion in writing music, collaborating with local Newfoundland musicians, I then had the idea of creating Xpress Musica.
