ABOUT

The 1985 is a cover band playing UK New Wave/Post Punk from 1980 to 1985. No American New Wave. No dark goth. Hope to form in spring/summer 2024. Gig by late summer/autumn. I was in an active band called "Circle of Ill Health" from 1986 to 1991...from 1988 to 1991 we played almost every club in Toronto, and had an EP out, "A Rhyme in Four Parts," that was in semi-regular rotation on CFNY. We also produced two videos that were aired on MuchMusic.

I've just picked up a bass again after not playing since the mid-1990s, but I'm still okay on it. Can't play The Smiths "This Charming Man" yet, LOL, since Andy Rourke was a god.

Here is a possible set list (and of things I've been working on to get my rusty hands back oiled). Some were super easy for me, others took awhile!

The Cure - Just Like Heaven
The Chameleons UK - Swamp Thing
Echo & the Bunnymen - Killing Moon, Never Stop, almost any other song since they've been my favourite band since 1984
Modern English - Melt With You
New Order - Age of Consent
The Psychedelic Furs - Heaven
Simple Minds - Waterfront, Don't You
A Flock of Seagulls - Space Age Love Song
U2 - Two Hearts Beat As One
Style Council - You're the Best Thing
Thompson Twins - If You Were Here (I'm thinking of songs in John Hughes movies b/c they'd get a 50-something crowd going)
