In the spring of 2008 four friends came together to start a new band after years of their own musical exploration. Each member brought with them their own unique style and influence. Adam Ostick filled the role of lead guitar bring a uniquely progressive metal style, James Moreland on bass offer a traditional punk and ska. Rafael Munoz and Nathan Fitzsimmons both originally brought alternative rock and hip hop influences to the table. After a few year and two releases, the band found something uniquely there own. The final product was a blend of 90's skate punk, third wave ska feel, feverously fast lyrics and a touch of balls to the walls guitars. This new direction in sound has been embodied within their sophomore full length album ('Let's Play' - 2011) which has been release to much critical acclaim and success. Keeping with a rigorous touring schedule Caught Off Guard has become widely known for their incredibly energetic and highly entertaining live performance. This commitment to putting on the best possible show made a lasting impression in audences across the country as Caught Off Guard took there music on the road. The group has had many successful tour spanning from Vancouver to Halifax over the past 3 and half years. For a group branded as 'Party Punks', they live up to their moniker by regularly hanging from ceilings, playing from the street, tops of cars and starting their own dance circles or mosh pits.

In the late summer of 2011 Caught Off Guard was dealt an unfortunate hand as their long time friend and co-worker Adam Ostick was moving on with other endeavours in life. The commitment required by each member of the band can at times be staggering and as Adam was looking to settle down he could no longer afford to take time away from home to tour. While at first the news was incredibly disheartening, the band took this as an opportunity to make some changes and improvements to their overall performance. After trying out several different guitarist they finally found someone who had the talent, energy and work ethic they were looking for in Dan Wollach. The young guitarist put forth quite a valiant effort, learning the entire Caught Off Guard set list in matter of weeks. While Dan was able to kick the Caught Off Guard machine back into high gear, they didn't stop there. They knew this would be the perfect moment to make new additions they had been considering for years. During the tryouts they had the good fortune of meeting Alastair Robertson, a singer/song writer with a passion for Ska Punk. The newly formed four piece decided as a group it was time to get a rhythm guitarists. With this they added Alastair and went hard at work getting ready to re-introduce the public to Caught Off Guard. After month of rehearsing and planning they had a new line, new music, a new stage and light show ready for their 2012 spring tour.

The band was dealt another blow this fall when Dan was forced to resign in order to pursue an academic career. We wish him the best but once again we are seeking a new lead guitarist to bring into the studio and on the road.
