HI THERE! I'm a 44-year-old, Kitchener-based multi-instrumentalist who plays bass, drums, guitar, and trumpet, and I have a singing voice that is what it is, although a vocal coach once told me I have good pitch, and I could see myself doing backing vocals with a little practice (I don't often play and sing simultaneously). I have wide-ranging musical interests but am primarily drawn to rock.
Because time constraints are against me coming up with a band from scratch with fellow musicians, I'm mainly interested in possibly joining a well-established band (covers, originals, or both) and who is in need of a new member in its rhythm section, i.e. bass or drums; I would say I'm strongest on the bass guitar, but my drumming ain't bad either.
With my work and family responsibilities, an ideal practice/gig schedule for me would be something like practice once a week and 1-4 gigs a month.
Gig-wise, I've played trumpet in concert and funk bands, and I've played guitar, bass, and drums in church-related settings. I spend most of my music time these days getting better on the guitar and coming up with original material under the musical alias "Smackload". However, I'd be happy to put my personal projects on the back burner should a gigging opportunity come up.
