ABOUT

New Band looking for people who have the itch to write some songs and want to create a new sound.

Many influential bands have come from up and down the West Coast, and the Northwest, in particular, has launched bands which have influenced music with what I like to call a sweet and sour sound to them. Maybe it's from the months of rain we get in the winters that shape our writing, lol.

I'm looking to create a new band. I'm not interested in doing covers. I want to create a new, unique sound. Something that has a modern rock/alternative vibe but that blends in the musicality from the past, with some funk and blues to it. I want to create something with a layered sound, with surprises, and that is musically interesting. I think music should always surprise you. If you can see it coming, it's all pretty drab.

I'd like to add a saxophone into the mix (one of the most emotive solo instruments before being displaced by electric guitars). I'm also looking for keyboards, bass, drums, and guitars.
For vocals, I'd like male and or female vocals. In fact, it would be great if everyone could sing, and we could create multipart harmonies. Multiple guitars would also be great with it opening the possibility for cool arrangements with solos (maybe more appropriately called duets and trios) for the guitar arrangements.
For drums, I'm not looking for super over-the-top drums, but rather someone with a solid groove and keeps it interesting with fun fills and clever timing changes. The same goes for bass. Solid rhythm with thoughtful lines around the chord shapes that adds a dimension to the sound beyond just a solid bottom end.

Ages and experience levels don't matter so much to me. The right creative mix is what I'm looking for. A group that provides the spark to get others into the zone where they can let their creativity out. Ultimately, we'll work it out and get a tight, polished sound going, and we'll write so that everyone can sound good.
I'm in no rush. I'll wait until we pull together the right combination of players. Myself, I'll keep working on increasing my understanding of music theory and songcraft and add the pieces as we find them. I'm betting some people can relate to what I'm trying to achieve here. So if this resonates with you, come resonate with us!

Influences

This playlist contains many songs from West Coast bands and some others. These aren't necessarily what I want the new material to sound like, but they contain many elements I would like to incorporate. At the least, it gives you an idea of what I like, and you can tell if we would be compatible at a musical level. But if a lot of these songs speak to you, then maybe you should speak to me.

Members Of Band

Presently, just me. I'm primarily a guitar person but dabble enough with other instruments that I can put ideas together.

EQUIPMENT

Before I moved, I had a nice little studio put together. But I still have enough to be able to collaborate with others and lay down some tracks.
