ABOUT

Just your average basement superstar sleeper agent waiting to be called upon to rock the world.

I am available as backup musician.

But a public service message, so I don't hurt any more delicate feelings in this tedious process:

This is going to come off very coarse, uncaring, and needlessly blunt and hurtful - I am aware that there will be those who will be wounded by what I'm about to say. What I have experienced up here, as a musician, has wounded me.

Please don't waste my time with the same old, tired "Sweet Child of My Brown-eyed Copperhead Sally", or any Country.

If your primary objective is to make money, above all else, placing soul and passion at the end of the priority list, please stay away from me. If I want to sell poutine, I'll open a stand. There's no nicer way to put it.

We have more than enough mediocre acts in this area, making tons of money, but sounding as bland and uninspiring as I have ever heard. New Brunswick deserves better, I would like to hope.

I want to work with musicians, not players. Those who know the difference, know what I am talking about.

I want passion, not just another punchclock occupation for something to do between shifts at the plant.

I want people who *feel* the music, not just play it in a proficient manner.

I'm not interested in jamming in a basement or garage for the rest of my life. I'm looking to form a *serious* band.

I don't care how much equipment you have or where you went to music school. If you are too timid to handle me or what I want to do, I don't want you around me, or your defeatist "playing it safe" attitude. And when I say "defeatist", I mean doing only what makes money, hand over fist, the most efficient and profit-friendly way. That's just treating music like a commodity, not an event to be cherished.

Don't get me wrong, I intend to get paid, I just don't let money dictate what I will do and/or how I plan on doing it. Our goal as musicians is to open people to new possibilities and awaken parts of the listener they didn't realize they'd had, not wallow in the same old slop because "It's always worked this way, no sense changing things, don't rock the boat, easy now!". That attitude is why the sea levels are rising.

I'm not interested in being nice and polite and safe, musically, or personally. I want real musicians to connect with, not work associates, who, while competent and skilled practitioners of their instruments and craft, have zero soul and/or spirit, and sound, to me, like they're phoning-it-in-for-a-paycheck and may as well be karaoke.

I want a band, not a Wal-Mart Glee Club of hobbyists.

I want fearless, like the influences I've listed. Fearlessness doesn't require a PhD in Music or Business. Fearlessness doesn't require knowing all music theory (doesn't hurt, though, so why not?), being virtuosos, knowing every slick lick (yeah it's fun, but it gets hollow really fast) Fearlessness doesn't require everyone else's approval.

Go do the weddings and corporate parties to your heart's content,if you absolutely must. I want no part of that life.
Your making buckets of money, that you have to pour through the moonroof of your Escalade in order to transport it to the bank, doesn't earn my respect, if I think your performance is insincere, sorry. If I'm investing my life force into something, it has to *mean* something.

I also know (all too heartbreakingly well) that drunk patrons don't care if the band is good, only if it knows, "their" song. If that's the goal, to just charm drunks out of more money, please, PLEASE move on. I don't play for social status and/or standing. I am not interested in following trends or being around the "right" people. I abhor cliques.

I don't begrudge your success, I just begrudge that you think I should respect you on that merit alone, like being good at making money automatically makes one a decent person. It does not. I've stepped off that merry-go-round of disappointment, once and for all.

Music means so much more to me than just as a source of income. According to entirely too many fellow human beings, it's considered unskilled labor, just something to do, like a lawn care side hustle. Just another way to bring in money. Our days jobs are our side hustle. Our reason to live is in our instruments. If you do not feel that way, stay away from me, because I don't want my heart broken any further.

I don't waste my time with people who don't measure up to what I'm looking for. The minute you tell me,"maybe we can take it down a notch...?" I'm out the door. I'm not compromising who I am or what I want to do for anyone or any amount of money, or feelings of safety.

As a consequence,I have zero problem staying in the basement. Sure it's hard and lonely, but at least it's genuine. If this makes me difficult, then I know I am on the right track.

I do, however, hold a particularly strong reverence for tribute artists who care enough to get every detail correct. For them, I will work my butt off, because they understand what it is I want to accomplish. And only people who truly love the artist, become tribute artists themselves. I'll follow them to heck and back.

Regarding why I back out; If I tell you why, it's because I respect you, but know that if you want to treat this like a business, this is how businesses work. We all, as autonomous beings, reserve the right to terminate projects we no longer believe in at a moment's notice, just like employers reserve the right to terminate an employee, without any explanation as to why. If you don't like that, then change the way business is done. I didn't make these rules, after all.

One last thing:
if you support/display hate symbols/speech like the Confederate Flag, Nazi, MAGA, anti-LGBTQ+,etc on your vehicles, person and/or equipment, or hold such points of view in your heart, I'm out. I owe you not one explanation as to why. Just be glad I'm gone.
If I back out unexpectedly, I was given a very good reason why to do so.

Rock and Roll is not about forcing everyone else that is considered "different" to conform to "the rules"; even if those rules are unjust. If rainbows scare you, this thundercloud (parent of rainbows) will scare you much worse.

Now, as for my musical skills and what I have in mind (and what I am capable of) simply peruse the songs listed, as well as the influences.
