J. F. Johnson's Ensemtet

Ensemtet is currently seeking a saxophonist: tenor or alto. Ensemtet is doing a daring MIDI-backed jazz thing that tries to transcend the limitations of static arrangements and emphasize improv as much as possible--all the while seeking the real flexibility of jazz artists, but yet still using the technical tools of pop players in the studio--(Daring indeed! Yes, it is a balancing act!) Membership can flex down to a few persons with MIDI backing, but we can add live members up to a full quartet or even quintet. Songs include jazz standards, with original arrangements, often heavily reworked to sound a little more avant or contemporary. Also have a fast-growing list of original tunes. Joy of creation is the goal! Age, ethnicity, gender not a barrier. Get in touch !
