Mad Professor

Band to Join, Vocalist, Rhythm Guitar, Bass Guitar, Drums, Keyboard.

Easy-going, professionally trained lead guitarist with extensive experience playing a wide range of styles from classical to R&B to folk to metal (and everything in between). I've worked as a session guitarist and played in various bands and pit orchestras over the years. At the risk of being immodest, I have excellent ears, I learn material quickly, I'm a fluent sight reader, and I already know a lot of songs from the 60s through the 90s (and some more recent). I'm most comfortable playing hard-edged rock styles (see my influences) as well as original material, but I'm open to other styles.

My latest project was with a Rush tribute act that recently disbanded. I enjoyed working on that material very much. I would be interested in working on another tribute act that focuses exclusively on Rush, or perhaps Pink Floyd, The Who, Supertramp, or Zeppelin. I could also be easily persuaded to work with a band that primarily focuses on recording/playing original material.

Regardless of the direction the project takes, ideally I'd like to join/form a band of experienced musicians that has a solid vocalist (who might also be one of the instrumentalists or perhaps plays 2nd guitar), keys, guitar (me), bass, and drums, although a basic power trio could be equally rewarding.

This is primarily a labour of love for me; I have no illusions of becoming a rock star at this point in my life. I'm also not eager to play live just for the sake of playing live. I've already done my fair share of that. But I would be interested in occasional gigs provided that the band is tight and the material polished. I have a day job so I'm unable to commit to a full time gig or touring act -- I'm just looking to join/form a local band whose members are more mature (40s to 50s), with a similar profile to mine. I'd prefer to stay local (London area) but willing to travel within reason.

Pro Gear (see photos) including Gibson Les Paul, ES355 & Double-neck (which I rarely play b/c it's so damn heavy), Fender Strat & Tele, Contreras, Martin & Taylor acoustics, Mesa Boogie amplification, numerous effects (Pedal-board & Rack-mount). I use the Fender Jazz bass shown for recording. I play bass at an advanced level but I'd prefer to play guitar in a band.

I also have some keyboards including Moog, Roland, Yamaha synths, as well as bass pedals for triggering synths or samples. I am not a keyboardist but I can play at an intermediate level for songs that require secondary keyboard parts.
