ABOUT
Jason Clarke is a versatile Calgary-based upright and electric bassist. He began playing gigs in Vancouver in high school, and upon graduation studied jazz performance at Capilano College. He was a regular in the Vancouver jazz scene for years playing pick-up gigs, as well as having been a full-time member of bands in genres ranging from jazz duos and trios to big bands, pop-rock, and folk-rock. He has played in venues all over Western Canada, including international jazz festivals in Vancouver and Regina, as well as multiple live broadcast performances from CBC's studio in Vancouver. Having relocated to Calgary, you can find him playing regularly in large and small jazz, blues, rock, and country ensembles. His strength is his dependability; always fully prepared and early to set up, but also dependable musically, with solid time and a sensitive ear to blend in and support what is happening. Jason's priority is making the rest of the band sound good.
